Effective Coaching is the process of engaging with a trained Coach in order to bring about or approach change in a constructive way that will lead to a long term, sustainable shift in behaviour, attitude and mindset.
It is about coaches “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires clients to maximise their personal and professional potential.”International Coaching Federation
Coaching is a relatively new branch of psychological science and unlike counselling, psychology and psychiatry, is primarily focused on future growth, goal attainment and improving mental health as opposed to a therapeutic intervention to diagnose or manage mental illness or past trauma.
While Coaching in Australia is currently an unregulated industry, by following best-practice through evidence-based approaches and aligning to the International Coaching Federation’s Code of Ethics, clients will be able to achieve their goals in a thorough, sustainable, and healthy manner, avoiding much of the pseudoscience that clutters social media at the moment.
